Technology has allowed for many different ways to intubate patients for surgery: lightwands, video laryngroscopes, bougie catheters, intubating LMAs, etc. In this video from Japan, a device similar to a video laryngoscope but with a slight modification to guide an attached breathing tube in is demonstrated. Fascinating!

And if you are wondering why the patient isn’t coughing, pay close attention to the beginning of the video, where you can see the patient breathing in aerosolized lidocaine to numb the upper airway. Great demonstration!
