H.A. Tillmann Hein, M.D.
Dr. Hein is one of the founders of Metro Anesthesia and currently serves on the Compliance Committee and Metro Political Action Committee.
After graduating with a degree in pharmacy from the Westfälische-Wilhelms-Universität, Dr. Hein obtained his medical degree and Ph.D. in medicine from the Freie Universität, Berlin, Germany. He completed anesthesiology residencies both in Germany and at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX.
Dr. Hein is board certified in the European Union and by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He maintains an appointment as Full Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and continues to publish his research including 2 patents: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Ha_Hein/publications. He is an active member of numerous scientific societies including: American Society of Anesthesiologists (Delegate to House of Delegates from Texas, Committee on Quality Management and Departmental Administration), Texas Society of Anesthesiologists (President 2011-2012), Dallas County Anesthesiology Society (President 1991-1992), International Anesthesia Research Society, Society for Cardiovascular Anesthesia, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Anästhesie und Intensivmedizin, Ärztekammer Westfalen-Lippe, Internationale Sepsis Gesellschaft (Life Member), Sepsis Stiftung (Founder, Member Kuratorium 2011-date), Rudolf-Frey-Gesellschaft (by invitation),Dallas County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, National Physicians Council For Healthcare Policy (Co-Chair for Anesthesiology 2015-date), Texas Surgical Quality Collaborative (Chair of the Board 2011-date). Dr. Hein is married with two adult children and five grandchildren. He has a passion for liberal arts and is a past president of the Dallas Goethe Center, and a past chairman on the Texas German Day Council. As an ameuteur constitutional scholar, Dr. Hein contributed to a collection of the constitutions of the world by discovering in the archives of the Mexican Department of Defense a copy of the long lost draft for the constitution of the Republic of the Rio Grande whose flag was one of the seven flags that flew over Texas (not six as commonly believed). Dr. Hein enjoys exercising for physical fitness, and has annually won the German Sports Medal in Gold 9 times.
